That’s the Vigna del Roccolo at Fattoria dei Barbi in Montalcino, a photo taken not long after we had passed through the vineyard to drop some of the fruit.
We had already dropped fruit in this vineyard a month ago and now only the best bunches remain. We’ll leave them there until they’ve achieved full phenolic ripening. That is, weather permitting!
Argh! Winemaking is the best job in the world. But I spend these September mornings watching the sky and reading at least 10 weather forecasts — something I could do without!
