We were thrilled to read this tasting note by one of our favorite Italian tasters, Federico Bindi. It was part of his round-up from Benvenuto Brunello (the annual tasting of new releases in Montalcino) on his excellent blog Taccuindivino.
[Fattoria dei Barbi] Brunello di Montalcino 2014: A multi-faceted wine, great old school style, substance and great balance. Delicate and refined aromas with a hint of face powder… One of the best wines from the vintage.
Fattoria dei Barbi’s Sangiovese is an inextricable outpost for lovers of traditional-style, classic wines from Montalcino. [The estate] has proved this once again, indisputably, at this Benvenuto Brunello with its difficult vintages. It’s probably owed to its expansive park planted to vine and its ever thoughtful approach [to winemaking].
