Panzanella Cook-Off Competition Sunday July 29 at Fattoria dei Barbi!

For a second year in a row, the Fattoria dei Barbi is hosting its Panzanella Cook-Off Competition!

The contest is open to any and all. The winner will be awarded a set of wines including a bottle of His Majesty Brunello.

Here are the guidelines for contestants:

– Register by emailing info@fattoriadeibarbi.it or calling +39 0577 841111.
– Write down your panzanella recipe, including ingredients, quantities, and instructions (and any other important info).
– On the day of the event, prepare a panzanella (min. 6 servings) using your own recipe.
– Arrive at Fattoria dei Barbi with your panzanella and recipe by 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 29.

The entries will be tasted and judged by a jury of food experts. And spectators will also have the opportunity to taste each entry.

The event will take place in conjunction with the family’s celebration of its ancestor the Blessed Giovanni Colombini who invented panzanella in the 14th century (stay tuned for more on the origins of this iconic dish in our next post).

As part of our celebration of the Blessed Giovanni Colombini, the winery and the Brunello Museum will be open free of charge from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29.
