Brunello 2013, “a true growers’ vintage”: Critics rave about 2013 release from Montalcino

Just a day after the conclusion of Benvenuto Brunello — the annual grand tasting in Montalcino where producers feature new releases — top Italian wine critics are already publishing their glowing praise of the 2013 harvest.

“A true growers’ vintage” is how top Tuscan sommelier, restaurateur, and wine writer Andrea Gori put it in a post for the popular Italian wine blog Intravino.

Our blogmaster is currently working on a round-up of notes on the new release by leading Italian wine tasters. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here’s Andrea’s wonderful note for the Barbi Vigna del Fiore 2013. Thank you, Andrea!

Floral and balsamic notes accompanied by bunch grasses and violets. Graceful in the mouth with gorgeous tannins that prolong the fruit flavors. Very cohesive with elegant notes of oak and spices.
