When you say Fattoria dei Barbi, you immediately think of one of the most regal traditions of Montalcino winemaking. But when you look more closely, you quickly realize there is a rich history of taking chances and innovation that has always shaped this winery and museum owned by the Cinelli Colombini family. They were the first estate in Montalcino to export their wines to France (1817). The first to sell Brunello through catalogues (1832). The first to open the estate to wine tourism (1960s). The first to release a Super Tuscan (Brusco dei Barbi, 1969) into their line of wines. The first to make a Sangiovese distillate (1974). The first to embrace organic fertilizers and so much more.
