A Medieval Pilgrimage in Montalcino
with Stefano Cinelli Colombini
owner/winemaker at Fattoria dei Barbi
A day-long walking tour leading from the winery to the Abbey of Sant’Antimo.
Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18
10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Throughout the Middle Ages and even in recent times, residents of Montalcino would walk the road that leads from their village to the Abbey of Sant’Antimo. So would do it to give thanks to our Lord, others for penance, and others yet, believers who seek out the Lord.
It’s great way to enjoy the breathtaking views of Montalcino wine country with its rolling green hills: Following the trail of the ancient pilgrims who would make the same journey in Roman times.
Fattoria dei Barbi owner and winemaker Stefano Cinelli Colombini, a historian and expert in the Middle Ages in Tuscany, will lead the group.
Guests meet at 10 a.m. at the winery and then depart for the Abbey. They then hike back to the winery where lunch awaits them at the Taverna dei Barbi. Following lunch they will enjoy a tour of the winery and a wine tasting.
