The Fattoria dei Barbi will be participating in this year’s Open Cellar weekend-long event, the 25th anniversary of the Italian Wine Tourism Board’s annual happening, with free wine tastings and winery tours, Saturday and Sunday, May 27-28, from 1:30-6:00 p.m. every half hour.
This year’s celebration will be marked by an exhibition of works by the acclaimed and beloved Tuscan political cartoonist, Emilio Giannelli (contributor to La Repubblica and the Corriere della Sera and author of the 2000 Brunello vintage commemorative tile above).
Mr. Giannelli will be on hand Sunday afternoon to interact with guests and to present the winner of a cartoonist competition held on the grounds of the winery.
The estate’s restaurant, Taverna dei Barbi, will also be offering a special tasting menu with wine pairings created especially for the occasion.
