You may remember that we posted the news a few months back: This year, Fattoria dei Barbi was awarded the prestigious Cinque Grappoli (Five Bunches) award for its single-vineyard Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Fiore by the editors of the Bibenda guide to the wines of Italy — one of the top publications in the world of Italian wine today.
Last month, winemaker Stefano Cinelli Colombini (above, right) traveled to Rome to accept the award at the magazine’s gala event, tasting, and dinner at the swank Hotel Cavalieri.
The gathering brings together the brightest and best of Italian winemakers and is attended by the Italian food and wine world’s glitterati.
It’s a unique tasting, in part because of the caliber of the wine service (see below).
